Dream Homework - Due November 25
Over the next week and half, you will be monitoring and analyzing your dreams. Follow the format below to assist you in researching your dream. This assignment is worth 50pts.
REMEMBERING YOUR DREAMS
1. Place a pen and pad (or tape recorder) next to your bed before retiring (you will want to record your dreams quickly when you wake up).
2. Every night before you go to bed, tell yourself that you want to dream (“I’m going to dream to night”, this encourage you to remember your dreams).
3. Identify any major things that happened to you the day before you had this dream (relationship or family issue, tests, job stress, ect.)
4. When you awake, keep your eyes closed and run through the dream until it is fixed in your mind.
5. Gently sit up, turn on the light, and record your dream, no matter how disjointed the ideas and images may seem. Include whatever information you can remember about the following:
a. Setting (e.g. indoors or outdoors)
b. Characters (e.g. relatives, friends, strangers)
c. Nature of the interaction (e.g. friendly, aggressive, sexual)
d. Activities (e.g. running, climbing, speaking)
e. Outcome (e.g. success, failure)
f. Emotion (e.g. fear, happiness, confusion)
g. Relationship of the dream to the previous day’s events or to the next day’s planned activities
ANALYZE YOUR DREAMS
1. Find a quiet time during the day after the dream to think about what you wrote down. It is possible that you may remember more of the dream after you read your notes.
2. As you review your dream, think about all of the events that happened during the previous day(s) and try to determine if your dream(s) is somehow related to events that happened to you.
3. Below your dream notes, write out what you think the dream might represent based on the thinking that you just did.
PREPARING YOUR ASSIGNMENT FOR CLASS ANALYSIS
1. At least 5 out of 7 days of a Sleep Log (must be printed and submitted with your typed dream essay)
2. Dream Log (must be in the composition book. It can be printed and taped into your notebook.)
3. Pick one dream you had over the past week and a half.
4. On Wednesday 20th, bring to class a draft of the dream that includes the following: (Record all your information in your composition book.)
a) A description of the dreams
b) Your self- analysis of the dream
5. We will interpret your dream in class.

*Final Assignment is due November 25th. You will write a Three-Paragraph one-page APA Essay. Must have a APA cover page and Reference page (cite at least two websites).
